Louisburg Cider Mill

9月26日、ルイスバーグというカンザスシティの南西にある町に行ってきました。訪れたのはサイダーミル、という林檎ジュースや林檎ドーナッツを作っているところ。カントリー風の店もあって地元のお菓子や様々な食べ物、置物などが売られています。ここに来たのはカンザスシティの観光大使（CTA）の一人として。ここではCTAという組織があってボランティアで旅行社の観光案内をするグループがあるのですが、私も講座を受けてCTAになり、今この市の様々な観光スポットを訪れながら学んでいるところです。

I joined a tour to visit Louisburg Cider Mill and Cedar Cove Sanctuary on September 26th as a Certified Tourism Ambassador of Kansas City. Louisburg is south-west of KC and it is in Miami county.  The Cider Mill has wonderful apple ciders and apple cider donuts as well as local country food and snacks.

林檎ジュース、と書きましたが英語ではアップルサイダー。でも炭酸飲料じゃないんです。日本にもちょっととろみがかった林檎ジュースあるじゃないですか、透明じゃないやつ。その味です。甘すぎず酸味もなくやさしい味です。英語のサイダーはアルコールを含まないジュースのことを指すようです。アメリカのドーナッツといえばとても油と砂糖がのってて1個食べるともうしばらくいいや・・という感じなのですが、ここのドーナッツはとてもふわふわで軽いものでついつい３つも食べてしまいました。（カロリーはドーナッツだからきっと高いでしょうが）

If you are reading this post in English and you are from the US, you may know that the apple cider donuts do not taste like the apple and the apple cider is not carbonated. I did not know that.  The word “Cider” implies “soda” in Japanese so I was surprised when I tasted it. Now I like the apple cider. The donuts were great too. They were not greasy like other normal donuts and actually I ate 3 of them…

10月が近いこともありハロウィンの飾り売ってました。

私はこういうローカルなオンリーワンな場所が大好きです。近くにいったら是非また訪れたいと思います。

Lake of Ozarks

週末オザーク湖に行ってきました。ここは大学生がパーティする場所で有名ですが、私たちが行った9月半ばは静かで天気も良くリラックスした時間を過ごせました。

So we went to the Lake of Ozarks over the weekend. As far as I know, they are famous for college kids party place, which you can find the evidence on Youtube, but when we went there in mid September, it was peaceful with perfectly warm sunny weather.

友人がここにコンドミニアムを持っていてそこに友人7人と泊まりました。ジェットスキーをしたり、釣りをしたり、本格的なポーカーテーブルでポーカーゲームをしたり、BBQしたり、ワイナリーにいったり、プールで泳いだりと、たくさん遊んでたくさん友人と話すことができました。その中にフルブライトの奨学金で日本に行く学生がいて、日本語で話したり、彼女がいく大学について話したり。友人同士で泊まりにいくのはかなり久しぶりだったのですごく楽しかったしリラックスできた。

We stayed at my friend’s condo with 7 other friends from college. We did jet-ski, fishing, BBQ, played porker game, went to winery, swam in the pool, and chatted together. One of our friends is going to Japan as a Fulbright scholar and we talked in Japanese about the college she is going to and so on. It was super relaxing.

中日にワイナリー（写真上）にいってきました。そこがすごく素敵なところで、さらにワインも安くておいしい！ワインテイスティングをして、スパークリングワインを飲みながら釜焼きのピザも食べて、デザートワインにPortを飲んで周りを散策。石の階段を下って絶景ポイントがありくつろぎました。

On the second day of the stay, 6 of us went to a winery near the condo. That place was great! We enjoyed wine tasting and had pizza with sparkling wine. There is a view spot underneath the huge rock.
